How can we make UpContent an essential tool in your content discovery process?

Our unique algorithm crawls the web and pulls news articles and blog posts that can be expanded and read right within the platform. Content can be sorted by things like relevance, recency, shareability, and even influence to make sure you’re always reading the best, most up-to-date content from industry thought leaders. You can also favorite or share content with your audiences right away, either directly or through your favorite social media automation tool.

How can we make UpContent an essential tool in your content discovery process? We are looking for your ideas on how we can make UpContent a critical part of your regular content discovery process. We’re open to all ideas, but are specifically grappling with the following at the moment:

  • Many users are not able to accurately translate what they’re looking for into a very specific search phrase, and they do not take advantage of Boolean operators to narrow results and additional lines to broaden the scope of their search. As a result, they aren’t getting the best results possible in UpContent. How can we make it easier for you to tell UpContent what you are looking for?
  • Users have expressed that they don’t exactly know how to use the various sorting filters to their advantage. Are we offering the right things? How can we ensure better user education?
  • Some users have indicated a need to only see articles sourced from a country, state, or even narrower geography (geo-targeting). What is the best way to do this without losing valuable content?

We’ve tried numerous approaches to address these areas, but can’t seem to make it click just yet. We welcome all of your suggestions!

Here's an example of a "bad topic" vs. a "good topic" in UpContent. The search phrases on the right will deliver much more targeted results.

Once you've typed in your search phrases, you will receive relevant suggestions in a card layout that you can click on to read the full-text. You can also sort the content by various filters, such as relevance, recency shareability, and influence.

You can share, like, or delete any of your suggestions using the three action buttons on each card. Clicking the share button will allow you to send the content directly to social media or it can be scheduled through Buffer.
